Recruiting Limitations
Columbia Sailing is a club team, not a varsity team. This means that we do not have any official recruiting process or sway with the admissions office.
"Recruiting" Process
Submitting the interest form on this page is the first step to us meeting you! After you submit it, please send us an email at [email protected] and cc Coach Loghlen ([email protected]). This email should include some more specifics about your sailing and academic experience, along with any relevant extra-curriculars. If you have a sailing resume (not required), then please attach it too. Additionally, please include some dates and times when you would be able to meet over Zoom or are visiting campus.
We will try to schedule a meeting with you as soon as possible. While this meeting is an opportunity for the team to learn about you, it is more meant for you to learn about us and have any questions about life at Columbia or Barnard answered. It will be pretty casual, so no need to prepare too heavily! If you just be yourself and come with some questions, you'll be perfectly fine.
After this meeting, we will keep in touch with you to see how things are going. We've all been through the admissions process and we know how stressful it is. Good luck, you got this!
NB: Unfortunately, under Club Sports rules, for someone to be able to attend practice, they must be a registered member of Columbia Sailing. This means that we are currently unable to have prospective students attend practices, but we hope this may change in the future.
