The team traveled to Washington College in Maryland across the Chesapeake Bay from Baltimore to compete at the Luce Regatta, the MAISA Championship Qualifier. We left Friday night, arrived around 11pm, and went right to bed to rest up for the important day ahead. When we arrived conditions were perfect for some light wind racing. Elizabeth Frost ('27) and Alex Yuen ('25) set out in A fleet and finished 2nd in the first race of the day! However, with an unfortunate turn of events, the wind died and never built back up to racing conditions throughout the weekend.
The team spent the weekend doing homework, playing spike ball, and exploring Chestertown and the farmers market. On Sunday, A fleet went back out to try and race, but the wind was not consistent enough and they decided to call the end of the regatta. While racing turned out to be unsuccessful, we would not have had the opportunity to compete without Camille McGriff (GSAPP '26) who volunteered to drive our van. Thank you so much!
We are disappointed that we did not get the chance to race, meaning that we could not qualify for the War Memorial, the MAISA Championship, but that means we will be competing at the MAISA Women’s Championship! We are looking forward to seeing how we stand among the women’s teams and learn as much as we can.
