The COHO Memorial Regatta hosted by Webb Institute was CUST’s first regatta since spring of 2023 when we competed in Austin, Texas. This weekend proved to be a huge success as we came home with our first win since 2019! Chase O’Malley (26’), Eva DeCastro (28’) and Ross Claytor (27’) secured second place in A fleet while Elizabeth Frost (27’) and Mark Festa (27’) drove it home with a picket fence(straight bullets) in B fleet. For all the sailors except Chase, this was their regatta with the Columbia Sailing Team, and Ross and Mark’s first regatta ever!

The conditions started off very light with wind blowing in from the northeast, and built throughout the day with a slight geographical favor on the right side of the course, and lefties in the puffs. Coach Loghlen gave advice from shore, and helped the team navigate the shifty conditions.

We are so grateful for the momentum building off this regatta and look forward to the rest of the season!
