MAISA Women’s Fall Dinghy
Conditions: 4-10 kts, 0-1 ft waves
This weekend the Lions competed at the MAISA Fall Women’s Dinghy for the second year, hoping to climb the ranks and secure a spot at nationals. The conditions were shifty and light, making it difficult to play on our strengths of speed, making starts and boat handling much more crucial for this event. Eva DeCastro (‘28) and Amelia Thomas (‘27) started in A fleet while Elizabeth Frost (‘27) and Nadia Fisch (‘28) started in B fleet. The lions pulled off some consistent races, peaking with a second place in A fleet and a third place in B fleet. Stella Manyan (‘27) switched in for the 4th set of B fleet, and the race committee ran 10 races for A fleet and 8 for B fleet in the light air.
On day 2, Elizabeth and Stella sailed all six B fleet races while Nadia switched into A fleet to crew four races. The lions had some great races and consistent scores! Climbing the ranks to secure 9th overall, just above Fordham, the host, and ending in 10th in A fleet and 7th in B fleet, much better than last year’s results! The Lions are looking forward to next season for many more events and opportunities to learn and climb the national college sailing ranks!
