Women’s Atlantic Coast Tournament

Conditions: Day 1: 3-8kts, Day 2: 15-25 kts

The Lions competed on the Charles River at Harvard University for the first time since 2022! This is also the Lion’s first ever showing at the Women’s Atlantic Coast Tournament and placed 10th out of 16! We started the event off in a postponement as we waited for the wind to shift and build from the east. Racing started at noon with Eva DeCastro (‘28) and Amelia Thomas (‘27) starting in A fleet and Elizabeth Frost (‘27) and Nadia Fisch (‘28) starting in B fleet. Stella Manyan (‘27) swapped in the skipper in B fleet for the second set. Throughout the day the lions sailed consistently, navigating the shifty and puffy conditions of the Charles river. The highlight of the day is Eva and Amelia’s third place in race 3A! That evening the Lions visited John Harvard in the Harvard square. 

On day 2, the Lions started off with a winning set, both placing second in their respective fleets! The wind was on at around 18-22 kts, but the shifty conditions persisted as the lions showed off their speed. Stella switched in to crew in B fleet in sets 6 and 7 and Nadia switched in to crew in A fleet for the last set of the day. Throughout the day, the lions once again stayed consistent, climbing their way up to tenth overall, setting a precedent for Columbia Sailing in the techscore era!
